(Eagle News) — Over 1,000 successful bar candidates are set to take their oath as new lawyers at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on Friday, June 1.
The 1,719 who will be sworn in are composed of those who passed the 2016 bar exams but were unable to take their oath last year, and some of those who passed the 2017 bar exams.
Over 1000, or 1,724 out of 6,748 law graduates passed the 2017 bar exams, but not all will be taking their oath as some have pending cases.
Acting Chief Justice Antonio T. Carpio will “call to order” the oath-taking ceremonies for the newest members of the bar in a special en banc session, a statement issued by the Supreme Court said.
“Any act that undermines the safe and orderly conduct of the Oath-Taking Ceremonies or disturbs the due decorum therefor shall be punished with direct contempt of court, and shall be dealt with summarily,” said 2017 bar chair Justice Lucas Bersamin.
