We are closer to the announcement of the roster for the new NHL team in Las Vegas, called the Golden Knights. Sunday June 18, 2017 was the last day for the other NHL teams to submit their protection lists to the Golden Knights.
During this expansion draft process, the Golden Knights will need to pick one player from each of the other 30 NHL teams. The 30 players selected from the unprotected list should consist of fourteen forwards, nine defense men and three goalies at minimum. The Golden Knights also have acquired the number six pick in the upcoming draft.
The timeline for the Golden Knights to submit their roster selection is Wednesday June 21st at 10 a.m. ET. The announcement of the new roster will also be made that very Wednesday at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, during a joint 2017 NHL awards ceremony and Expansion draft.
The Golden Knights are in the process of putting together a team that will be ready to compete by the next NHL season. The Golden Knights will be competing in the western conference league and plan to be contenders of the pacific league en route to the Stanley cup.
