Reuters – LA Lakers legend Kobe Bryant is set to enter the court as a player for the final time on Wednesday (April 13) and to mark the occasion, Bryant’s shoe sponsor, Nike, has released a commerical to honor the player.
The commercial, entitled “The Conductor,” features Bryant conducting a chorus of chants of hatred towards him from supporters of the teams that he has played over the years, including fans of the Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons and the Sacramento Kings.
Bryant, 37, has had a memorable two-decade career in the NBA with the Lakers, notching up more than 1,500 appearances and 33,5834 points for the team.
He will play his last game on Wednesday when his team faces off against the Utah Jazz at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Resale ticket prices have skyrocketed for Wednesday’s game with the cheapest tickets available starting at $700 for seats furthest back, while court side seats cost up to $10,000 on Ticketmaster and even higher on some other websites.
On Monday (April 11), Bryant netted 13 points in his penultimate game when the Lakers visited Oklahoma City Thunder, losing the game 112-79.
