(Eagle News) — Almost 100 Filipinos living undocumented in Saudi Arabia have availed of the Saudi Amnesty Program, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
In a statement on Thursday, the DFA said as a result, the 91 Filipinos have been allowed to return to Manila, and will arrive on April 13.
Under the amnesty program first implemented by the Saudi’s Interior Ministry on March 29, undocumented migrant workers are allowed to leave the country without penalties.
Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Jesus Yabes and Senior Special Assistant Ricardo Endaya have distributed the tickets to the returning Overseas Filipino Workers.
They have also been briefed about the programs they can avail of upon their return by a representative of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the DFA said.
According to the DFA, the 91 OFWs constitute the first batch of Filipinos in Saudi whose repatriation was “facilitated” by the government.
