QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) –A seismologist clarified that the high temperatures being experienced by the country are not connected with the series of earthquakes that hit Batangas, and parts of Visayas and Mindanao recently.
Ishmael Narag of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that any surface activity would not reach down and affect the depth from which earthquakes originate.
After the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) declared the start of the dry season in the country, an “earthquake swarm” struck Batangas over the weekend.
Lanao del Sur was hit by a 6-magnitude earthquake before dawn on Wednesday, April 12.
The quake was felt at Intensity IV in Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Cotabato City, Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental, and Matalam, North Cotabato.
