(Eagle News)–PBA Rep. Jericho Nograles on Sunday, April 22, revealed that Grab has not been implementing a Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board order that it remove its feature that enables drivers to refuse passengers.
In an interview over dzbb, Nograles said the order was given as early as September 2015.
“Ang specific instruction is really tanggalin yung capacity to know the rider’s destination and capacity to know the cost of the trip, dahil naniniwala ang LTFRB na ang driver, kung alam nila ang destination at yung trip, mataas yung urge to refuse to convey the passenger,” he said.
He said usually it was the driver who would force the passenger to cancel the trip even if it was him or her who wanted it cancelled.
He said this was because if a driver cancelled the trip, he would lose incentives given by Grab.
“May nakikita tayong modus dito sa Grab,” he said.
It was also Nograles who bared Grab was implementing a P2 per minute of travel time extra charge to passengers illegally.
Grab said it informed the LTFRB about the same, but the agency said it was only “after the fact.”
The LTFRB has ordered the implementation of the extra charge suspended, but Grab said it would appeal the order, alleging that it was the Grab drivers and riders who would be in the losing end if the extra charge was not implemented.
