(Eagle News) — The director of the Northern Police District has been sacked.
Philippine National Police Chief Director Ronald Dela Rosa said in a radio interview that Chief Supt. Roberto Fajardo’s relief was effective Tuesday.
He said the relief was to give way to an impartial investigation into the death of 17-year-old Kian delos Santos in an anti-drug operation in Caloocan days ago.
Police said Delos Santos had fired at them as they were approaching him, prompting them to retaliate.
But Zaldy Delos Santos, the boy’s father, disputed the police accounts, making reference to footage from a barangay closed-circuit television camera that supposedly showed his son being carried by the policemen.
Earlier, the three policemen who were involved in the operation and their superior were also sacked.
Dela Rosa said Fajardo will report to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the PNP at Camp Crame.
