(Eagle News)– The Royal Norwegian Embassy on Thursday (September 22) announced Kjartan Sekkingstad had already left the Philippines and returned to Norway after days of medical treatment.
“Mr. Sekkingstad has undergone medical examinations and has been well taken care of both in Manila and Davao. He has also been properly debriefed by relevant authorities in order to provide information that can aid in the rescue of other captives,” Ambassador Erik Forner said.
Forner said Sekkingstad also extended his gratitude toward President Rodrigo Duterte, Peace Process Adviser Sec. Jesus Dureza, and other personalities who contributed to his release.
“I would like to extend special thanks to President Rodrigo Duterte and the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Jesus Dureza, for their commitment to resolving the situation,” Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg said in a separate statement.
The Abu Sayyaf Group released Sekkingstad on September 17.
