QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) is asking Congress to fine telecommunications companies the amount of PHP 1 million if they fail to provide fast internet service to consumers.
NTC chief Gamaliel Cordoba said this during the appropriations hearing of the proposed P3.503-billion budget of the newly created Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and its attached agencies. He said strict requirements from the local government unit to build more cell sites were among the reasons why there is a slow internet service.
