Number of fatalities due to “Urduja” rises to 41

The number of fatalities because of “Urduja” has risen to 41.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, of the 41, 28 were from Biliran, three from Masbate, one from Camarines Norte, five from Leyte and one was from Eastern Samar.

Two of the fatalities were from Eastern Samar, and one was from Surigao del Norte.

The NDRRMC said 67 were also injured in Samar and Leyte.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing for the 45 still missing from Romblon, Camarines Sur, Eastern Samar and Biliran.

Over 12,000–12,682 families–remain in 81 evacuation centers in Mimaropa, Caraga, and Regions 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Stranded in ports were 118 passengers, five sea vessels and eight motor bancas, the NDRRMC said.

Damage to property was pegged at P543,220,000, while damage to agriculture was at P3,758,000.

The government has spent P41,185,423 in relief operations so far.
