Ocular inspection in Mayon set after Phivolcs lowers volcano alert level

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Concerned government agencies will conduct an ocular inspection of Mayon Volcano and its surroundings to check for lahar flow that can happen when the rains come.

The move to conduct the ocular inspection came after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology lowered Mayon’s alert level from 4 to level 3 because of its decreased volcanic activity.

Presidential Adviser for Political Affairs and Mayon Eruption Over-all Crisis Manager Francis Tolentino said that the ocular inspection to be conducted was part of preparations during the rainy season.
