(Eagle News) — “Odette” has intensified into a severe tropical storm, as it heads toward the West Philippine Sea.
In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the center of “Odette” as of 4 p.m. was located 205 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 113 kph, as it moves west northwest at 15 kph.
Signal Number one has been hoisted over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands, while moderate to occasionally heavy rains are expected over the provinces of Zambales and Bataan.
“Odette” is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility between tonight and tomorrow morning, Pagasa said.
