Ombudsman investigating Teo, others sacked by President Duterte for alleged corruption

(Eagle News) — Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales said they were investigating officials sacked by President Rodrigo Duterte over corruption.

In a television interview aired on Monday, June 11, Morales said among those being investigated was former Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo.

Teo resigned after the Commission on Audit red-flagged the DOT’s placement of P60 million worth of advertisements in a PTV blocktimer program produced by her brother, Ben Tulfo.

The program was also co-hosted by her other brother, Erwin Tulfo.

Teo has denied the allegations, saying the contract was scrutinized by the DOT’s legal department prior to its implementation.
