(Eagle News) — Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella asked the media to wait for President Rodrigo Duterte’s explanation on the contents of the new drug matrix that is now with him.
Abella said that the new drug matrix will show the connection of narco-politicians with the ISIS-inspired Maute Group in Marawi City.
“Local politicians in Mindanao adversely affected by the government’s campaign against illegal drugs have financed the Daesh-inspired Maute Group, whose attempt to undermine our sovereignty resulted in the rebellion in Marawi,” Abella said in a statement.
President Duterte, during a dinner with reporters in Davao City late Friday, released the “matrix” of drug lords and politicians who allegedly funded the Marawi siege.
