QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque said that only the Supreme Court can resolve the question on the suspension order by the Office of the President against Overall Deputy Ombudsman Melchor Carandang.
Roque said that as long as there is no temporary restraining order (TRO), the suspension order against Carandang should be implemented.
“If he feels that the President’s order assuming jurisdiction to discipline him is wrong, let him go to court. But we will implement the law. There cannot be an impasse, there’s only one sitting president in this country, and he will implement the law,” Roque said.
“If they think that ruling is basis for him not to be suspended, go get a TRO, without a TRO, we will implement the law,” he added.
Carandang is under a 90-day suspension after disclosing false information on the alleged bank transactions of President Duterte’s family.
On September 27, 2017, Carandang announced that the Office of the Ombudsman started its probe on the wealth of President Duterte and his family based on the complaint of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
