Other countries more concerned with terrorism than human rights in PHL, says President Duterte

(Eagle News) —  President Rodrigo Duterte said that other countries are now more concerned with terrorism and less with the human rights situation in the country.

Duterte said this after meeting with United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop who both paid courtesy calls in Malacanang on August 7.

“Mostly, they have considerably toned down on human rights,” Duterte said. “Nobody… mostly it was terrorism. But no one is asking me about human rights. There’s no more.”

When asked about details of his meeting with Tillerson, the President said he cannot share further details due to the confidential nature of the meeting.

President Duterte also accepted the credentials of the ambassadors from Chile, India and Austria on Monday in Malacanang.
