Ozamiz police chief confirms crooked cops involved in ‘Parojinog drug trade’

(Eagle News) – Ozamiz City Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido has confirmed that there were crooked cops involved in the Parojinogs’ alleged drug trade.

Espenido said that he received reports about this after assuming his post in  December 2016.

On Wednesday, President Rodrigo Duterte said he would soon visit Ozamiz to warn the policemen who are supposedly linked to the family believed to be engaged in the illegal drug trade.

He also announced a P2-million bounty for each policeman he said was responsible for the killing of civilians found in a mass grave behind a barangay hall there.

The Parojinog patriarch, Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., was killed in a raid led by Espenido and several others late July.

The police had said they were met by a volley of fire as they were about to implement search warrants in his house.

Also killed were the mayor’s wife, Susan; brother, Ozamiz Board Member Octavio; and sister, Mona; among others.

His children, Reynaldo Jr. and Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess, were arrested.
