(Eagle News) — The Philippines can expect a boom in infrastructure soon, as nine infrastructure projects worth P738 billion only await the approval of President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and National Economic and Development Authority Director General Ernesto Pernia, the projects include the P230-billion peso Mega Manila Subway; the P151-billion Philippine National Railways long-haul from Calamba, Laguna to Bicol, and the P35.3 billion Tagum-Davao-Digos Railway in Mindanao.
Other pending projects are the P15.35-billion peso Clark International Airport new terminal building; the P10.86-billion peso New Centennial Water source, the Kaliwa dam project, the P2.67-billion Chico River Pump Irrigation Project and the P8.9-billion Cavite Industrial Area Flood Management Project.
The President’s approval is expected when he convenes the NEDA board by the end of the month.
“These are the ones that seem to be needed by the people and would help decongest Metro Manila,” Pernia told reporters, noting that the government wanted to focus on projects that could be implemented and finished within three years.
