MANILA, Philippines (ENS) — Hotter temperatures were recorded by the country’s weather bureau in most parts of the country in the past days, indicating the end of the northeast monsoon.
In a recent announcement, PAGASA said that recent observations hav showed “significant increase in daily temperatures” in many parts of the country.
Analysis had also indicated the establishment of the North Pacific High which favors the shift of wind direction from northeasterly to easterly, according to PAGASA.
“Considering changes in the wind pattern and pressure system related with the changing of the season, the current weather condition signifies the imminent termination of the Northeast Monsoon,” said PAGASA acting administrator Vicente B. Malano in a statement
The Northeast Monsoon is also called hanging amihan in Tagalog.
With this development, PAGASA said this is associated with such weather conditions as “increasing number of warm days and generally good weather in most areas of the Philippines partly due to the dominance of the ridge of High Pressure Area and the easterlies.”
“The general public are advised to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress,” PAGASA said. The weather bureau also advised the public to drink lots of water.
PAGASA recorded the highest temperature today at 33 degrees Celsius. Last week, the temperature recordings were mostly above 30 degrees Celsius. (Eagle News Service)
