PAGASA-Tacloban keeping a close eye on ‘Hagupit’

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Dec. 3 (PIA) –The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the State weather agency has already issued an official weather bulletin on the status of tropical storm Hagupit.

PAGASA Tacloban Head Mario Penaranda said the agency is keeping a close eye on the track and intensity of tropical storm Hagupit which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) either Thursday or Friday.

As of 11 P.M. December 2, 2014, tropical storm Hagupit was estimated at 1825 km. East of Mindanao with maximum winds of 105 kph and gustiness of up to 135 kph. It is forecast to move West northwest at 30kph.

As of this writing, Hagupit is still too far to affect any part of the country. Once it enters the Philippine area of responsibility, it will be named Ruby.

Meanwhile, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) in Eastern Visayas called on all members for a meeting today to discuss the preparations being undertaken by various agencies relative to the approaching typhoon.
