(Eagle News Service) — The country’s weather bureau said typhoon Ruby had made landfall over Dolores, Eastern Samar 9:15 p.m. Saturday. December 6.
PAGASA said storm winds, storm surges of up to 4.5 meters, and heavy to intense rainfall would be felt in the areas hit by typhoon Ruby.
As of 9 p.m., Saturday, PAGASA said typhoon Ruby was located at 150km East Southeast of Catarman, Northern Samar or at 45km East Southeast of Dolores, Eastern Samar (11.9N, 125.9E)
In a tweet, PAGASA said: “As of 9:15 p.m., 06Dec.2014, Typhoon RUBY has made landfall in Dolores, Eastern Samar and was located at 140km East Southeast of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.0,125.8).”
Before this, disaster scientist Mahar Lagmay, head of the Department of Science and Technology’s Project Noah said that typhoon Ruby had made landfall past 8 p.m. over Dolores, Eastern Samar based on radar data from the Cebu doppler station.
Typhoon Ruby had weakened slightly with maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center, from the previous 195 kph maximum winds, and gustiness of up to 210 kph.
It is forecast to move west at 16 kph. By Sunday morning, it is forecast to be 50 kilometers east of Romblon, Romblon. By Monday morning, it is forecast to be 200 kilometers west of Ambulong, Batangas or 225 kilometers west northwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
Typhoon Ruby is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility Tuesday evening.
