El Niño, to strengthen in first quarter of 2016

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that there is a possibility that the effects of El Niño will get even worse in the first quarter of 2016. In response, the Department of Agriculture (DA) formed a committee to resolve the said problem. The committee will focus on the problems brought by the El Niño. US to conduct regular patrols in West Philippine Sea

The United States Navy declared that it will conduct two regular patrols every quarter in the West Philippine Sea in order to guarantee its freedom of navigation in international waters. China earlier said that there is a possibility of a minor incident in the West Philippine Sea if the United States continues with its patrols. Oil companies implement price hike

Petroleum products saw an increase in their prices as oil companies started implementing a price hike on the said products. There is also an increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas while there is no increase in the price of diesel. OFW to conduct protest actions against “laglag-bala”

In answer to the “laglag-bala” scam that victimized many overseas Filipino workers (OFW), OFW groups will conduct protest actions connected with said scam. These actions are “laglag-padala” which is similar to “no-remittance day” as well as “laglag-boto” campaign where they encourage OFWs to not vote allies of President Benigno S. BIR to reform payment of taxes

Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is trying to reform the system of payment of taxes. INC asks CA to dismiss Menorca’s habeas corpus and writ of amparo petitions for being “moot and academic”
