Senate approves higher pension for SSS beneficiaries

MANILA, Philippines, August 18 (Eagle News) — The Senate approved the proposed Php 2, 000 increase of the SSS monthly pension in a hearing conducted by the Senate Committee on Government Corporations and Private Enterprises despite the allegations of the SSS that their fund will run out by 2029. Burned vessel in Ormoc Sea must be transferred

Explosion in Bangkok, Thailand kills 21

BANGKOK, Thailand, August 18 (Eagle News) — A pipe bomb explosion in a popular shrine in Bangkok, Thailand left 21 dead including a Fililipino. Most of the casualties are Chinese and Taiwanese tourists. The Philippine Embassy is coordinating with Thai authorities to confirm the alleged Filipino death. A new study published in the journal ‘Nature Nanotechnology’ has found that lignin-based, environmentally-benign nanoparticles (EbNPs) could replace the better known and less eco-friendly silver-based nanoparticles in pesticides.
