Bomb kills 20 in Nigeria market, girls’ abduction suspect held

(Reuters) – A bomb in a van carrying charcoal exploded in a busy market in northeast Nigeria on Tuesday, killing at least 20 people in the latest suspected attack by Islamist militants, witnesses said. NTC warns public on “PASALOAD” text scams

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) continued to warn the public on the spate of text scams making use of so-called “PASALOAD” schemes. The scam can victimize both pre-paid and post-paid subscribers.  Recent reports show an increase in “PASALOAD” scams among post-paid subscribers. Canada gives additional humanitarian assistance to Mindanao

Canada has announced that it is providing Cad$ 800,000 (PhP 32 million) in new humanitarian assistance funding for those impacted by conflict in Mindanao.
