8 women, locked inside a room by their employer, die in Pasay City fire
A commercial/residential building in Pasay City was gutted by fire dawn Friday, May 30, with eight recorded dead because the owner locked the employees inside the building. All the fatalities were women who were reportedly locked inside their room by their Filipino-Chinese employer during the night. Firemen found the dead women inside the locked room. They apparently died from suffocation. Nine other women employees were able to escape. Authorities are now investigating the incident.
