Palace: At least 31 killed, 49 missing because of “Urduja”

At least 31 people have died and 49 are missing because of Tropical Depression “Urduja.”

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said the information provided by the Department of the Interior and Local Government was as of 1:40 p.m., Monday.

Roque said of the 31 killed, five were from Leyte,  two from Samar, 23 from Biliran, and one was from Eastern Samar.

Of the 49 missing, three are from Leyte, 11 from Eastern Samar, 33 from Biliran, and two from Romblon.

In its briefing on Monday morning, Romina Marasigan, spokesperson of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said 44, 369 families remain in  208 evacuation centers in Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Mimaropa and Caraga region.

The NDRRMC said over 100 houses were destroyed, of which 48 were totally damaged, and 101 were partially damaged.

Around 2,900 passengers remained stranded in ports, majority of whom were stranded in the Port of Manila, NDRRMC said.

The agency said relief goods worth P37, 614,000 have been distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. to those affected by the weather disturbance.
