(Eagle News) — “A comfortable life for all.”
This is theme of the President Rodrigo Duterte’s second State of the Nation Address (SONA) which is written in English.
“On the whole it will be frank, challenging, realistic but hopeful,” said Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.
“The President’s State of the Nation Address will be rendered in broad strokes reviewing past achievements, stating the present situation and announcing future prospects,” he explained.
Duterte’s second SONA if read straight will last for about 50 minutes, he said.
But if the time for pauses and applause, including off-the-cuff remarks, will be included, this year’s SONA to be delivered by the President will last for about an hour and 30 minutes, according to Malacanang.
Abella also said that the President’s SONA will be “available online shortly” after his speech.
The President’s first SONA in July 2016 lasted for one hour and 32 minutes, becoming the longest first SONA ever delivered in history.
The longest SONA in terms of word count was delivered by the late President Ferdinand Marcos on January 27, 1969 at the Legislative Building in Manila. Marcos’ SONA then had 29,335 words.
