(Eagle News)—The Palace on Thursday, July 26, said it was looking forward to Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s “successful leadership” in the House of Representatives, as it thanked her predecessor, Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, for his “invaluable service to the institution and the nation.”
In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque noted that the Palace was “confident” Arroyo would “put her considerable experience and skills behind (President Rodrigo Duterte’s) agenda.”
“The Palace is ready to work with the new House leadership..,” he said.
“Together, let us roll up our sleeves and start our work in bringing comfortable life for all Filipinos,” he added.
Arroyo was elected as Speaker in a surprising turn of events on Monday, July 23, the day President Duterte held his State of the Nation Address.
