Palace on BI order vs Australian nun Fox: “That is the law”

(Eagle News) — “The law may be harsh but it is the law.”

This was the Palace’s reaction to the Bureau of Immigration’s decision to deport Australian nun Patricia Fox to Australia.

“That is the law,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

In its 10-page order issued on Thursday, July 19, the BI said Fox was an “undesirable alien” who violated the limitations and conditions of  her missionary visa, and as such, should be deported.

In making the conclusion, the BI said her “active participation” in rallies, fact-finding missions and conferences was “evidently beyond the ‘nature’ of authorized duties and responsibilities for which she was assigned as a missionary worker.”

The BI ordered the inclusion of her name in the agency’s blacklist, which means she is barred from re-entering the Philippines.

Fox’s camp said they would appeal the order.
