(Eagle News) – President Rodrigo Duterte is against divorce.
This is what Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque clarified during a press conference in Camarines Sur on Monday, March 19.
According to Roque, the President said it would be the children who would bear the brunt of the effects of a divorce between parents.
The Palace earlier said that President Duterte was leaving the fate of divorce measures to Congress.
The House of Representatives on Monday approved on third and final reading House Bill No. 7303, seeking to introduce absolute divorce and dissolution of marriage in the Philippines.
Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III had asked time for senators to study the “dissolution of marriage,” which he said was “a new concept.”
