(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte sees no need to declare martial law in Negros Oriental just yet.
“Kasi nga under the Constitution, dapat may rebellion.Sa ngayon, unbridled patayan pa lang nangyayari,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte said he would do “something drastic” in the province, after at least 20 people were killed in separate incidents there.
Those killed included four policemen, a lawyer and a rebel returnee.
Authorities have said those behind the killing of the four policemen were New People’s Army rebels.
Duterte, who visited the wake of the policemen, has urged the military to “give (the rebels) what they deserve.”
