Palace releases names of Bangsamoro Transition Authority members

(Eagle News) — The Palace on Wednesday, Feb. 27, released the list of members of the newly formed Bangsamoro Transition Authority that will serve as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao government from 2019 to the 2022 polls.

The appointment papers of the following were signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Feb. 22, the same day they took their oath of office:

The President has yet to appoint four other BTA members as under the Bangsamoro Organic Law, 80 members would comprise the body.

Murad, chair of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, is Bangsamoro interim chief minister.

Majority of the BTA members were members of the MILF.

The Yusuf Jikiri-faction of the Moro National Liberation Front had complained the MNLF had only gotten five seats in the BTA.

The national government, in response, said the group had “equitable representation” in the body.
