Palace suspends work in gov’t offices in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON

(Eagle News) — Malacanang announced the suspension of work in government offices in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and the CALABARZON area due to the effects of Typhoon Lannie and Tropical Depression Maring.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella made the announcement upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

“Upon the recommendation of the NDRRMC, the Office of the Executive Secretary has announced that work in government offices in Metro Manila, Region III and CALABARZON is hereby suspended.”

The Supreme Court also suspended work in the same areas because of flooding and bad weather.

Last night, several local governments in Metro Manila, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal and other areas already suspended classes in all levels, both public and private schools.

At 4:00 AM today, September 12, the center of Tropical Depression “MARING” was estimated based on all available data at 80 km North of Daet, Camarines Norte(14.8°N, 122.9°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 65k m/h, according to the country’s weather bureau, PAGASA.

It is forecast to move West Northwest at 11 km/h.

Those areas placed under Public Storm Warning Signal number 1 are Metro Manila, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Nothern Quezon including Polillo Island, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Quirino, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Laguna, Quirino, and Aurora

Meanwhile, also at 3:00 AM today, “the eye of Typhoon “Lannie”was located based on all available data at 1,145 km East of Aparri, Cagayan(19.7N, 132.4E) with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 145 km/h. it is forecast to move West Northwest at 26 km/h,” PAGASA said.
