(Eagle News) – Malacanang thanked the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee for inviting presidential son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, and son-in-law Atty. Manases Carpio and giving them a chance to air their side.
This was amid the allegations made by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV linking the two with the controversial smuggling activities at the Bureau of Commission
“We thank the blue ribbon committee for giving Vice Mayor Duterte and Atty. Carpio the chance to debunk baseless allegations,” Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella.
During the hearing on Thursday, September 7, Trillanes claimed that the tattoo on the back of Paolo Duterte – even without seeing it– was his evidence that the vice-mayor was a member of what he termed as the “Chinese Triad.”
Sara, netizens mock Trillanes for “Chinese Triad tattoo” claim
Because of this, many netizens poked fun at Trillanes’ claim, as they posted various images of their body tattoos to mock the senator. Even Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte posted a photo of a body tattoo where a tiger, a fox, and a horse can be seen, to taunt Trillanes.
“Trillanes and USDea (Drug Enforcement Agency). Paki Decode. Please. By the way, thank you Edwin Miraflores for the triad tattoo,” the Davao City mayor said on her Facebook post.
Miraflores is a tattoo artist who has a tattoo and piercing studio.
As of Saturday afternoon, the mayor’s tattoo post already has 16,000 likes and 1,714 shares. It was posted at 5:52 p.m. on September 7, the day of the Senate hearing when Sara’s brother, Paolo, and husband Mans Carpio, appeared.
“Google” connection — Mocha taunts Trillanes
Blogger and Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson also posted a short video in her facebook blog of a supposed ambush interview of Trillanes by reporters wherein he answered that he found the photo of the supposed Chinese tattoo triad “in Google.”
“Nasa Google. Tingnan nyo sa Google,” Trillanes replied in the said video when asked by reporters if he has a photo of the supposed triad tattoo.
Trillanes claimed during Thursday’s senate hearing that he got the info of Paolo Duterte’s alleged membership in the supposed “Chinese Triad” from a “foreign intelligence” source.
Abella praises senators in BOC smuggling hearing, except for one
Presidential spokesperson Abella praised the senators who were investigating the drug smuggling at the Bureau of Customs, except for one whom he did not name but apparently referring to Trillanes.
“While nearly all senators showed respect for truth and reason, we caution against a particular one, who made baseless claims of purported bank accounts and body markings and then prodded witnesses to disprove his claims instead of presenting validating proofs,” Abella said.
