Palace to Colmenares: Go to court instead of questioning Chico irrigation deal in media

(Eagle News)–Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo on Sunday, March 3, urged senatorial bet Neri Colmenares to go to court instead of criticizing the Chico irrigation deal in media.

“If he is not satisfied with our responses he is free to go to the courts, as his usual style for media mileage, and we will be happy to oblige him there,” Panelo said in a statement.

According to Panelo, he has “better things to do than” to engage Colmenares in a debate and  provide him the forum he desperately needs.”

“Surely Mr. Neri Colmenares knows how to grab at a media op to improve on his fledgling candidacy,” Panelo said.

Colmenares had alleged the deal signed in 2017 with China was “onerous,” adding that Chinese workers instead of Filipino workers would benefit from the project.

But Panelo denied this, noting also that the country’s economic managers had approved the deal which they said would be in the Philippines’ best interest.
