QUEZON City, Philippines – The Palace Inaugural Committee will conduct a dry run for incoming President Rodrigo Duterte’s inauguration on June 30 to iron out the details of timing and position of guests.
Incoming Presidential Communications head Martin Andanar said that of the three options they have for the inauguration, incoming President Rodrigo Duterte chose a simple yet significant inauguration ceremony that will not affect traffic.
President-elect Duterte is expected to arrive in Malacañang at around 10:30 a.m. on June 30, Thursday. Outgoing President Aquino will greet him at the reception hall and President-elect Duterte will then sign the Malacañang guest book. Both of them will then step out of the Palace for Aquino’s departure honors.
There will be a 21-gun salute and the playing of the National Anthem to bid farewell to Aquino and to welcome President-elect Duterte.
The inauguration proper at Malacañang’s Rizal Hall will start at 12 noon, with President-elect Duterte taking his oath before Supreme Court Associate Justice Bienvenido Reyes. There will be around 600 guest for the Duterte inauguration. (Eagle News)
