(Eagle News) — The Palace on Thursday, July 12, lashed out at Vice President Leni Robredo after she told President Rodrigo Duterte to just focus on the economy following his “incompetent” remark against her.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, in the first place, “Madame Vice President, wala pong problema ang ekonomiya.”
Roque noted that the Philippine economy has been dubbed as the “second-fastest growing” in the world, with the IMF retaining its gross domestic product (GDP) growth projection for the Philippines at 6.7 percent for 2018 and 6.8 percent for 2019.
“We believe the Philippine economy will continue to grow strongly, driven by solid domestic demand and public investment,” YongZheng Yang, IMF representative in the Philippines, said in April.
On Thursday, July 12, Robredo advised Duterte to focus on the country’s economic “problems” instead of insulting her.
Duterte called Robredo incompetent after she said she was willing to take on a leading role in the opposition against the President and his administration.
