(Eagle News) — The Palace on Tuesday, July 3, vowed a thorough investigation into the killing of General Tinio, Nueva Ecija Mayor Ferdinand Bote.
“We assure everyone that we would discharge the state obligation for every murder. We will spare no effort in getting to the bottom of this latest violent crime,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
He said the Palace was “confident that (Philippine National Police) Chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde, would be able to conduct a fair and thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Bote’s vehicle had just left the National Irrigation Administration in Cabanatuan when it was shot by a gunman.
The police said Bote was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
Bote’s killing came after Tanauan, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili was killed.
President Rodrigo Duterte had said Halili was included in his narco-list.
The police said they were also looking at the possibility Halili’s walk of shame campaign was linked to his slay.
