(Eagle News)—The Palace on Wednesday, April 3, said the government would comply with the Supreme Court’s directive for it to release copies of the police report on the drug war.
“Unless (the SC) reverses itself upon a motion for reconsideration by the Solicitor General, obedience to its ruling should come as a matter of course,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
Panelo issued the statement a day after the High Court said the Office of the Solicitor General should release the copies to the Free Legal Assistance Group and the Center for International Law, which have asked the SC to declare the drug war unconstitutional.
This was in response to the SolGen’s appeal it not be directed to do so, owing to the supposed confidentiality of the reports on incidents that remain under investigation.
“The Supreme Court has spoken,” Panelo said.
