Palace welcomes recent SWS survey that found majority of Filipinos trust President Duterte

(Eagle News) — The Palace on Friday, April 27, welcomed the results of the latest Social Weather Stations survey that showed 3 out of 4 Filipinos still trust President Rodrigo Duterte.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the government was “grateful for our people’s vote of confidence” despite the attacks against the country’s chief executive leader.

Some members of the international community have criticized Duterte for his war on drugs, which he said led to a violation of the rights of drug suspects.

But President Duterte, a former prosecutor, denied this, saying his administration was adamant in upholding the rule of law.

“Rest assured that the President will continue to steer the ship of State until we reach a drug-free destination where the country’s macroeconomic fundamentals would be strong and resilient so Filipinos could lead comfortable lives,” Roque said.

The SWS said Duterte had a net trust rating of +65, down 10 points from the +75 he got in December 2017.

The rating, however, was still considered “very good.”
