Palace welcomes results of latest SWS survey showing 96 percent of Filipinos hopeful for the New Year

(Eagle News)– The Palace on Saturday welcomed the results of a latest Social Weather Stations survey saying that a whopping 96 percent of Filipinos were hopeful for 2018.

“We are pleased…This figure is considered a record-high,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

In a statement, Roque said there were indeed many reasons to be hopeful.

He said the country, for instance, was given a positive economic outlook by Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings.

He also cited the administration’s Build, Build, Build! program, the  Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Act, and the liberation of Marawi.

He said these will boost the country’s economy.

“The prospects for the future thus, look bright. We therefore ask our citizens to help the administration in laying down the foundation of a prosperous and peaceful nation,” he said.

The survey was conducted from December 8 to 16.

According to the survey, only 4% of Filipinos were fearful of what the coming new year would bring.

The results surpass those of previous years, SWS said.
