(Eagle News) — “They can always try. They can always fail.”
This was the response of Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panel when asked to comment on the Liberal Party’s plan to create a “resistance” coalition in time for the 2019 polls.
“There is nothing new there. They’ve been resisting this administration,” Panelo said.
He said even then, it was a “free society.”
“They are welcome,” he said.
In a statement on Tuesday, LP President Senator Francis Pangilinan said they hope to “help build together the broadest coalition of groups and individuals united behind defending our freedoms and our civil and political rights.”
He said for this, “we will need to work with other groups and forces willing to unite and to resist extra-judicial killings and human rights abuses, the undermining of our sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea, and the continuing rise of prices of basic commodities, among others.”
“Resistance is our movement,” he said.
