Pangasinan to buy new emergency, rescue vehicles

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, February 10 (PIA) – The provincial government here will soon acquire vehicles to enhance Pangasinan’s emergency response-system.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan authorized Governor Amado Espino, Jr. to purchase three brand new vehicles to be utilized for search, rescue and response operations of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) – Water Search and Rescue (WASAR).

In a resolution, Board Member Liberato Villegas said the procurement of emergency and rescue vehicles are beneficial in responding to the problems of climate change and global warming.

The vehicles to be purchased consists of one brand new dropside mini-truck amounting to P1.8 million; one brand new rescue vehicle amounting to P1.4 million; and one brand new service vehicle costing P825,000.

PDRRMC Chief Fernando De Guzman said the funds for the procurement of vehicles will be taken from the 70 percent of the province’s calamity fund. (MCA/EMBS/PIA-1, Pangasinan)
