Paolo Duterte, Mans Carpio sue Trillanes over statement linking them to P6.4-b shabu shipment mess — report

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte’s son and son-in-law have sued Senator Antonio Trillanes IV for damages over his statement linking the two to the entry of a P6.4-billion shabu shipment in the country via Customs express lanes in May.

Quoting a Davao court official, a GMA 7 report said Paolo Duterte and Mans Carpio filed the charges on December 27.

The filing comes days after the younger Duterte resigned from his post as vice mayor of Davao.

The case has reportedly been raffled off to Branch 15 of the Davao City Regional Trial Court.

In Senate blue ribbon committee hearings on the incident, Trillanes accused the younger Duterte and Carpio of being members of the so-called Davao Group.

The group is allegedly a player in what many say is corruption in the Bureau of Customs.
