QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said that the fate of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., should serve as a lesson and warning for narco-politicians.
Mayor Parojinog and 14 others died when the Parojinog’s camp attempted to resist efforts by the Philippine National Police raiding team to serve search warrant for firearms on their residences.
Andanar said that this proves that whether powerful or not, no one is exempted from the government’s campaign against illegal drugs. Mayor Parojinog is included in President Rodrigo Duterte’s list of narco-politicians.
On the other hand, Philippine National Police Chief Director General Rolando “Bato” dela Rosa also warned that there were more operations that will be conducted against those who were still dealing with illegal drugs.
“Marami pa. Marami pa, kaya hintay-hintay lang kayo,” Dela Rosa told reporters at a press conference in Camp Crame Monday morning.
“To be fair with these people, this should serve as a warning to everyone na ang PNP ay walang sinasanto pag dating sa enforcement ng batas. As far as law enforcement is concerned, we have no fear or favor,” he added.
