All units of the Philippine Coast Guard is under heightened alert due to tropical storm ‘Mario” and its accompanying heavy rains.
The purpose of the heightened alert status is to ensure the rapid deployment of Coast Guard personnel as well as to implement rules and regulations regarding sea travel during bad weather.
In the latest report of the PCG, 264 passengers were stranded, with 254 from Cebu and 10 from Catanduanes.
Three vessels and 34 rolling cargoes are not allowed to leave the port of Cebu.
