(Eagle News) — Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief Aaron Aquino on Thursday, Aug. 30, stood by his claim the four magnetic lifters that his agency discovered in Cavite recently contained shabu amounting to P6.8 billion.
Speaking before the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs that is conducting a motu proprio investigation into the recent shabu smuggling incidents in the country, Aquino said that even if results of a swab test showed something was negative of drugs, it doesn’t mean that that something did not contain drugs.
Earlier, Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapena said the four magnetic lifters tested negative for illegal drugs when subjected to a swab test.
To prove his point, Aquino cited as an example the two containers which his men intercepted in the Manila International Container Port also recently.
He said the containers carried almost 500 kilograms of shabu.
When a swab test was conducted on those containers, though, he said results showed they were negative of illegal drugs.
“Kahit wala doon yung corpus delicti, it contained drugs because what we intercepted in MICP is identical and similar (to that of in Cavite). Anong pinagkaiba? Yung shabu lang ang wala,” he added.
