QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) named the Bamboo Gang, the 14K or Hong Kong Triad, and the Sun Yee On, as the three largest and most powerful suppliers of illegal drugs in the Philippines.
PDEA Director-General Aaron Aquino said these three groups are responsible for the entry of large amounts of illegal drugs, including shabu, in the country.
“These three drug triads are making the Philippines their playground. They are resorting to drug smuggling, either finished product or raw materials, and cook shabu in high seas because of the dismantling of several major shabu laboratories offshore lately,” the PDEA chief claimed.
Aquino explained that the groups saw the Philippines as an ideal transshipment point due to the low security along the Philippine coastal areas.
