The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has purchased P90 million worth of equipment for use of the agency’s personnel in the war against drugs.
Among those purchased were 20 high-end drones the agency said would be a big help in its men’s surveillance activities and actual operations.
Over 700–753–tactical helmets and 23 ammunition reloading machines worth over P25 million were also purchased.
PDEA also bought 166 handheld radios, new vehicles including motorcycles, and 100 high-end body cameras.
According to PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino, the body cameras–which have infrared capabilities—would ensure that their drug operations were transparent.
He said apart from PDEA personnel, barangay personnel and members of media who will join the agency’s drug operations will have to wear the gadgets.
Aquino said all the equipment will be evenly distributed to its 17 regional offices.
