Leaders of Peru and Russia arrived in Manila on Wednesday morning (November 18), the first day of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting.
Peruvian President Ollanta Humala’s plane touched down in Manila’s international airport before dawn.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev arrived a few hours later.
Medvedev was welcomed by a contingent of Filipino officials as he stepped off the plane at Manila’s international airport.
Medvedev came representing President Vladimir Putin, who was originally set to attend the meeting at the heels of the G20 summit in Turkey.
Speaking to Russia media after landing, Medvedev said that the Western boycott to Russia looks “weird” in light of the deadly Paris attacks and the plane blast.
Medvedev added that while Russia can win against terrorism by itself, it would be better to unite with the West in this war. (Reuters)
